Plating decides how a silver piece looks on day one — and how it looks after three months on a store shelf. For wholesale buyers, choosing between rhodium, gold and rose gold is not only a style decision; it affects price, durability and after-sales complaints. Here is how the three finishes compare.
Rhodium plating gives silver a bright, cool-white surface and a hard protective layer. It is the default choice for classic collections because it resists scratches and tarnish far better than bare silver. Expect 0.1–0.3 micron thickness on a proper job; below that, pieces will yellow in humid climates.
Gold-plated silver sells strongly in the Middle East, Southeast Asia and for festive collections. The colour depends on the bath (2N yellow, 3N deep gold, champagne) and thickness usually runs 0.1–2.5 micron. Thicker plating costs more but survives polishing and daily wear much longer.

Rose gold (copper-tinted) plating photographs beautifully and suits bridal and gifting lines. Keep in mind the copper content makes the surface slightly softer — ask for an anti-tarnish topcoat if the collection will sit in window displays.
