Jewelry Packaging & Private Label Branding

Packaging does two different jobs on a wholesale order: it protects the piece, and it carries your brand onto the shelf. They should be quoted separately, because one is a fixed cost per unit and the other is a design decision your customer will notice. This page sets out what comes as standard, what can be added, what it does to your lead time, and the one thing that holds up most packaging orders — the artwork.

Standard

What ships as standard, at no extra cost

Every order leaves the workshop packed for transit first and presentation second. If you do not specify anything else, this is what you get.

Individual poly bag

Each piece goes into its own sealed bag, so stones and plating do not rub against each other inside the carton. This is our default pack and it is included in the unit price.

Anti-tarnish handling

Silver is handled and bagged to limit air exposure between finishing and packing, which is where most tarnish starts on a sea-freight shipment.

Counted by SKU

Bagged by model and size, then counted against the packing list. Receiving at your end becomes a count rather than a sort through a mixed carton.

What standard packing is not: it is not retail-ready. A piece in a poly bag is packed to ship, not to hang on a display. That is what the options below are for.
Options

Retail and branded packaging, priced per unit

These are added to the quotation as separate lines, so you can see the packaging cost apart from the metal and the labour. Mixing them inside one order is normal — a gift box for the hero SKUs, pouches for the rest.

Most common upgrade

Pouch

A soft drawstring or flap pouch, and the cheapest way to make a piece feel like a gift rather than a stock item. Usually the default upgrade on silver lines.

Retail

Gift box

A rigid box for the piece you want photographed or set on a counter. Priced per unit against the size you need, not held as a catalogue item with a fixed price.

Brand surface

Sleeve and insert

A printed sleeve over the box, or a branded card insert. The cheapest place to put a logo, because it is print rather than tooling.

Wholesale

Barcode labelling

Retail-ready labelling so your stock goes straight onto a system at your end. If you supply the data in your own format we will label to it.

Brand surface

Hang tag and card

A printed tag on the piece itself — price, material, care, or brand story. Applied during packing against the approved artwork.

By project

Custom structures

Die-cut shapes, window boxes and multi-piece sets are quoted per project. Send a reference and we will tell you what is achievable before you commit.

On quantities: packaging quantities follow the order quantity, but a printed element can carry its own minimum from the printer. If you are ordering fewer pieces than that minimum, we will tell you at quotation stage rather than after the order is placed.
Branding

Your mark, on the piece and on the pack

There are two separate places your identity can go, and they are priced on different logic. Put the mark on the metal and you pay once for tooling; put it on the packaging and you pay per unit for print.

01

Tooling and engraving

Laser engraving or stamping on the metal itself. Logo tooling is waived on orders above 100 pieces; below that it is quoted once and the tool stays yours for repeat orders, so the second run does not pay for it again.

02

Artwork approval on a proof

Print artwork is approved on a physical proof before the run. Colour, registration and paper behave differently on a box than they do on a screen, and a screen render will not show you that.

Proof before printColour approved on paper

03

Applied during packing

Tags, cards and labels are applied in the packing line against the approved artwork, so what arrives matches what you signed off rather than being a near version of it.

Applied at packingChecked against proof

The delay nobody plans for: custom packaging or engraving adds 3–7 business days to the schedule, and the clock starts on artwork approval — not on order confirmation. Goods sitting finished while artwork is still moving is the most common reason a shipment slips by a week.
Export

Getting it through customs intact

The outer carton is packed for export rather than for presentation: goods protected inside, and the paperwork your forwarder and the destination customs office will ask for on the outside.

Export carton

Corrugated cartons sized to keep the weight of each box manageable for air and sea freight, filled so pieces do not shift against each other in transit.

Carton marking

Shipping marks, carton numbers and the packing list reference on the outside, so a partial shipment can be reconciled without opening every box.

Documents with the goods

Invoice, packing list and the test reports for the batch travel with the shipment. Certificates of origin are issued on request where the destination needs one.

If your forwarder has a carton specification, a labelling standard or a weight limit per box, send it with the purchase order and we will pack to it. Full detail on what is tested for each batch is in Quality Control & Material Testing.

Quoting

What to tell us when you ask for a price

Packaging is the part of a quotation that moves most between two otherwise identical orders, so it is worth being specific in the first email rather than the fifth.

What we need to know Why it changes the number
Pack type per SKU A pouch and a rigid box are different unit costs, and most orders use more than one type.
Printed logo or engraved mark Print is artwork plus per-unit cost; engraving is tooling plus bench time. The two are not interchangeable.
Quantity per pack type Printed elements can carry their own printer minimum, separate from the jewelry MOQ.
Destination market Labelling and material expectations differ by market, and some require specific recycling or origin marks.
One thing worth deciding early: whether the packaging is there to protect the goods or to sell them. An order packed for protection can be re-packed cheaply at your end. An order packed for retail cannot be opened and re-packed without losing the presentation you paid for. If you are unsure which you need, the quoting page shows how packaging sits inside a written quotation.
Next step

Send the pack you have in mind, we will price it

If you already have a box, a pouch or a reference from another supplier, send a photo and the quantity. We will come back with the cost per unit and what it does to the lead time, before you commit to anything.
