Rhodium plated sterling silver is the finish Western retail expects: a bright, cool white-metal surface that reads like platinum or white gold and stays bright far longer than bare silver. We produce rhodium finished 925 silver jewelry in our 900 m² Guangdong workshop — a 50-person team with 3 R&D staff and 8 QC inspectors — and every design on our site is available with this finish.
US, UK, German and Nordic retailers specify rhodium as the default silver finish; Middle East and Australian buyers increasingly follow. If your catalog sells into department stores or established e-commerce brands, quoting rhodium-plated samples alongside gold-tone alternatives is the fastest way to match buyer expectations. For warm-tone programs, pair this with our 14K gold plated sterling silver capability.
Bodies are polished to a mirror, cleaned, activated and plated in a controlled rhodium bath, with optional e-coat sealing for extra wear life. Plating thickness is a specification choice, not an accident: rings and bracelet contact edges take more abrasion than pendants, so we recommend build levels per product type during quoting. Ask us to include plating thickness on your spec sheet — it belongs there, and it protects both sides in the program.
Rhodium is a plating, not a permanent coating: on high-friction pieces it will gradually wear and the silver beneath can be re-finished. For your customers, normal care — removing rings before hand-washing, storing pieces dry — extends the bright period substantially. We can supply care-card copy for your packaging on request.
Rhodium programs are tested to EN 1811, RoHS and GB 11887 with SGS reports available per batch. Nickel-free bath chemistry is standard, not an upcharge.
MOQ 30 pieces per design · Sampling 7–12 days · Bulk production 20–35 days · SGS / RoHS / GB 11887 / EN 1811 tested.
Rhodium is a hard, bright-white platinum-group metal that resists tarnish and scratching far better than bare silver. A rhodium flash turns sterling silver into the cool white tone that US and EU retail buyers expect, keeps pieces looking new through handling and display, and protects the silver underneath from the sulfur compounds that cause tarnish. It is also the finish that lets a silver program sit next to white gold in the same case without an obvious tell.
Rhodium adhesion depends almost entirely on what happens before the piece enters the plating bath. Our silver bodies are mechanically and hand polished to a mirror, ultrasonically cleaned, electro-cleaned and acid-activated, then given a nickel-free barrier layer before the rhodium flash. Thickness is typically 0.05–0.2 microns — enough for color and wear without the brittleness of a heavy deposit. Bath concentration, temperature and current are checked per shift, and adhesion is tested by tape pull and thermal shock on sample pieces from each lot.
We ship care cards with wholesale orders that explain the practical rules: avoid chlorine and abrasive polishes, wipe with a soft cloth after wear, and store pieces separately. For brands running long-life programs we also quote re-plating service and can supply touch-up guidance for retail staff. Because rhodium wears at high-contact points such as ring shanks and clasp edges, we will advise on which designs in your range should carry a heavier flash.
