How We Quote Wholesale Jewelry Orders

We quote instead of listing prices, because a jewellery price is a recipe rather than a product. This page shows exactly what goes into a quote, what makes two similar-looking pieces cost different amounts, and what we need from you to quote accurately the first time.

What is inside a quote

Line What drives it
Metal Finished weight multiplied by the metal price on the day the quote is issued. 925 silver, brass and copper are quoted against their own references; 8K, 9K and 14K gold against the gold price of that karat.
Labour The number of operations, not the size of the piece. A hand-soldered filigree stud carries more operations than a plain cast band of twice the weight.
Stones Size, family and count. Forty 1 mm stones cost more to set than four 3 mm stones, even when the total carat weight is the same.
Plating Bath type (gold, rhodium, rose gold, black) and thickness. Thickness is recorded per SKU on the spec sheet, and a heavier layer is quoted as a separate line because it costs time in the bath.
Packaging Poly bag as standard; pouch, gift box, sleeve, branded insert and barcode labelling are priced per unit.
Tooling CAD and mould work. Charged once and shown separately, so you can see what is a one-off and what repeats on every order.

What makes two similar pieces cost differently

  • Material. The same design in 925 silver, brass or copper is three different prices before labour is added. Brass is our highest-volume base metal because plating adheres and holds colour more consistently than copper.
  • Plating thickness. A heavier layer costs more and lasts longer. We quote the thickness, not just the colour, because “gold plated” on its own says nothing about wear life.
  • Finish. High polish, hand-antique and matte are different amounts of hand work on the same casting.
  • Stone count. Setting is priced by the operation, so stone count moves the price faster than stone size.
  • Quantity. The tooling line is spread across the run, so unit cost falls as quantity rises — until the point where hand operations stop scaling.
  • Tolerance. A piece that has to hit a measured dimension, like a bangle inner diameter or a ring size run, carries inspection time that a free-size piece does not.

What we need from you

  • A reference image, a drawing, or a physical sample — any of the three works. A photo with the words “like this but smaller” is enough to start.
  • Target material, or a target retail price if you would rather we work backwards.
  • Stone preference, or the look you want if you have no preference.
  • Quantity per design. The minimum is 30 pieces per design, and it can be split across sizes or colours.
  • Packaging requirement, and the market you are selling into — that decides which compliance documents you need.

What happens after the quote

Once the numbers are agreed we issue a spec sheet in writing: metal, weight, stone, plating thickness, dimensions and packaging. Nothing goes to the bench until that sheet is signed off, because it is the document we measure delivery against.

Sampling then runs 7–12 days. Bulk production runs 20–35 days after sample approval. Materials meet GB 11887 and EN 1811, with SGS and RoHS reports available on request.

Why there are no prices on this site

Metal prices move weekly, and every spec change — a thicker plating layer, twenty more stones, a gift box — changes the number. A published price would be wrong within a month, and a range would be so wide it tells you nothing. A written quote against your actual spec is the only figure that means anything.
